The Banquet Server is responsible for providing efficient and courteous service to our guests. The Banquet Server will provide our guests with hospitality providing prompt, efficient service of food and beverages in accordance with hotel policies and banquet event order standards. Banquet Servers will follow through with the proper and timely set-up and execution of banquet events.

Position Duties

Specific duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Arrive at scheduled start time in appropriate uniform and ready to work.
  • Report to Banquet Captain before starting and ending shifts.
  • Read and understand all particulars of Banquet Event Orders, including start time and beverage requirements.
  • Greet guests in a positive manner.
  • Perform necessary tasks to service guests and is able to handle all guest requests.
  • Maintain guest's event area in a clean and neat manner.
  • Monitor guest's need on a continual basis ensuring all requests will be promptly fulfilled.
  • Guide the guest through all phases of their experience in the banquet or event.
  • Sets up, monitors, refreshes and breaks down coffee breaks, receptions and buffet tables for specific group functions.
  • Opens and serves wine or alcoholic beverages as requested.
  • Promptly removes dishes as guests complete their mean during any meeting or function.
  • Effectively communicates with the kitchen, catering coordinate and banquet staff.
  • Assists other banquet personnel with maintenance (side work, opening, closing duties) as necessary.
  • Knowledge of all liquor brands, beers, non-alcoholic selections, correct glassware and garnishes.
  • Familiar with various types of services- plated, buffet, working lunches, etc.
  • Maintains a safe and sanitary work environment.
  • Expediently communicate any challenges, guest complaints or requests to the Banquet Captain.
  • Must adhere to all State, Federal and Corporate liquor regulations pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages to minors and intoxicated guests to insure all laws are being followed.
  • Perform other related duties that may be assigned by Banquet Captain/supervisor/manager.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple tasks at once.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with guests, co-workers and management.
  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to resolve customer issues or complaints.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and public holidays.
  • Must have excellent working knowledge of liquors, beers and wine.
  • Able to work under pressure.
  • May be required to lift up to 25lbs and the ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Neat, well groomed, well-spoken and professional.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of food, food ingredients, food prep methods, proper food storage, sanitation requirements and basic bar terminology.
  • Ability to be able to operate the following: coffee machine, hot box, soda dispenser, Bain Maries, beer taps and related equipment.

 Part Time, weekends, 20-25 hours per week.
