The Banquet Set Up Lead is charged with supervising the set up of rooms and event spaces for meetings, banquets, functions, hotel business needs and special events.  The Banquet Set Up Lead will also ensure that employees adhere to the pursuit of excellence that The Edgewater is synonymous for.


Specific duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Ensure that any and all room/space set ups are presented correctly, adhering to the standards set out by The Edgewater, and noting any special requests and instructions, set out on the banquet event order for the event.
  • Ensure communication is maintained between the Set Up team and Captains/Management in regards to accomplishing required sets, including alerting of any challenges that may arise.
  • Ensure that all relevant paperwork is correct and completed.
  • Ensure at the end of the event, that staff members return all equipment to the correct areas and that the room/area are always clean and set as needed for following function or in display mode.
  • Assign duties to Set Up staff for multiple sets and in support of Management/Captains, as needed.
  • Orient and train new Set Up Staff on position duties in conjunction with Management.
  • Walk spaces on daily basis to ensure correct set ups are accomplished.
  • Organize and ensure cleanliness of event space and storage facilities.
  • Set up chairs, tables, food stations, decorations, equipment for the successful operations of events.   Prepare rooms/spaces for functions, as needed.
  • Maximize all potential guest satisfaction on every level.
  • Perform other related duties that may be assigned by Management.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience working with banquet set up, preferably in a high volume banquet or hotel environment.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple tasks at once.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with guests, co-workers and management.
  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to resolve customer issues or complaints.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and public holidays.
  • Must be able to perform multiple tasks and prioritize efficiently.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull a minimum of 50lbs.
  • Ability to use moderately complex computer software.

Open availability, able to work nights and weekends.
